Weekend series At North Bay.
Submitted by Matt W.
Game 1 started physical and feisty as North Bay came out hitting from the drop of the first puck. The Hounds would find themselves on their heels early but penalty trouble would see the Trappers head to the box several times. On the PP, the Hounds would capitalize on a rebound by Sam Caruso and take a 1-0 lead midway through the frame.

More penalties and physical play would see both teams trade chances but the Hounds would head to intermission up 1-0. The 2nd period would once again start physical and the Hounds would answer with their own physicality. Hard work would pay off as the Hounds would take a 2-0 lead on a goal by Jagur Vommaro a few minutes in. Soon after, North Bay would strike and cut the lead to 2-1. More penalty trouble would see the Trappers in the box and the Hounds would capitalize with 2 more second period goals by Logan Dearing and Ethan Agawa and to take a 4-1 lead into 2nd intermission. The 3rd period would start quickly as North Bay came out hard and cut into the lead with a strike just minutes into the frame. Both Teams would trade 3rd period opportunities and both goalies would stand tall. The Hounds would eventually ice the game with the Trappers’ goalie pulled to finish them off with a 5-2 Win.
Game 2 was just as Feisty an affair as both teams would be physical once again and both spend time in the penalty box. The Hounds would strike first once again as Sam Caruso would have a puck bounce in off of him in front of the net and give the visitors a 1-0 lead. A couple of minutes later, the Hounds would bulge the twine once again to take a 2-0 Lead into intermission.

The 2nd would start slow but pick up momentum as North Bay was trying to aggressively answer the Soo attack. Penalties would mount up on both sides but penalty kills would prevail. Later in the period, Preston Miller would take a Neutral zone pass, come down the wing and fire a shot high glove to extend the Hounds lead to 3-0. A few mins later on almost the same play, Caleb Walker would take a pass at Neutral ice, come down the wing and let go a shot high over the glove once again to further extend the Hounds lead to 4-0 going to the intermission. 3rd period play would see North Bay press to cut into the Hounds commanding lead. With some good chances and the trappers buzzing around the net, Hounds goalie Cash Rowswell would answer the test and shut the door making a few key stops. Later on in the period, Caleb Walker would re-direct a shot from the high slot for his second tally to make it a 5-0 game. The game would settle in from there and at the Buzzer, the Jr Greyhounds would take home a 5-0 victory.
Game 3 would see an early strike by the Hounds. Ethan Agawa would put the visitors up 1-0 a couple minutes in. The rest of the period would be back and forth and the teams would head to the intermission with the Trappers trailing. In the 2nd period, North Bay would come out buzzing and the Hounds would find themselves in penalty trouble for much of the frame. Some sharp PK work and some key saves by goalie Nate Maguire would enable the Soo to weather the storm and keep it a 1-0 game. Late in the 2nd, Nick Dearing would pot a rebound behind the Trappers goalie to send the Hounds to intermission up 2-0. The 3rd period would see North Bay capitalize on the power play early on to make it a one goal game. Minutes later, Logan Dearing would deposit a rebound to give the Hounds another 2 goal cushion. Preston Miller would extend the lead to 4-1 midway through the frame and Carter Huckson would fire a beautiful shot high over the goalie to make it a 5-1 game late. The Trappers would not answer back from there and the Hounds would skate to a 5-1 Win in sweeping the 3 game series.
