3 Game Series vs North Bay
Submitted by Matt W.
The U15 AA Jr Greyhounds hosted the North Bay trappers in a 3 game set of league games over the Nov 27/28 weekend.

Game 1 started slow as both teams were tentative and seemed to be feeling each other out. The first period would see a couple chances at both ends but no one would capitalize and the teams would head to the second frame scoreless. The second period would see the Hounds pick up the pace and get their first tally 5 mins into the period on a goal by Preston Miller. More strong efforts would see the Hounds make some nice passing plays and pump in 2 more goals for a 3-0 lead at the second intermission buzzer. In the 3rd, North Bay would quickly answer a couple minutes into the frame cutting the lead to 3-1. Halfway through the period, the Trappers would make it a 1 goal game and force the Hounds to re-group. Play would go back and forth before a fluttering point shot would beat the Trappers goalie high giving the Hounds a 4-2 cushion. An late empty netter would seal it and give the Soo a 5-2 Victory.

Game 2 was the Jr Greyhounds from Start to finish. The Hounds would dominate the play from the drop of the first puck. The Soo pumped in 4 first period goals and 2 more early in the 2nd in chasing the North Bay starting goalie from the net. The goalie change would not help as the Soo would continue the attack scoring a few more and head to the 2nd intermission with a commanding 9-0 lead. The third would see the Hounds add a couple more before the Trappers would manage to score one on a fluke play to make it 11-1. The game would finish by that same score as the Hounds skated to the final buzzer.

Game 3 would be a feisty affair. North Bay would come out aggressive and ready to play. The Trappers would trade chances with the Hounds in the Frame but both teams would be in a 0-0 deadlock after 1. North Bay would find themselves in penalty trouble in the second frame BUT would manage to kill off a 5 on 3 Hounds PP with some strong Goaltending. Hounds would get a couple more chances in the frame but North Bay would open the scoring with a few mins left. Hounds would find themselves trailing 1-0 heading to the 3rd. The Third would see the Hounds press to tie and a goal on his own rebound by Logan Dearing would even the score at 1-1  5 minutes in. Both teams would trade opportunities and chances before a high shot from the blue line would glance off the Hounds goalie’s glove and fall behind him into the net. This would give North Bay a 2-1 lead with 4 mins left. Hounds would try to respond and Pull the Goalie but North Bay would ice the game with a late empty netter giving the visitors a 3-1 road win.
