Playoff Weekend
Playoff weekend  by Matt W
Game 1 vs Timmins North Stars would start well for the Hounds. The Soo would dictate the play for the first 8 mins of the period and find themselves ahead as Logan Dearing would strike for the Hounds.

The rest of the period would see Both clubs trade a few chances before heading to intermission with the Soo up 1-0.The second period would see Timmins in a lot of penalty Trouble. Multiple power plays for The Hounds including a 5 on 3 would not produce a bigger lead for the Soo and the North Stars would weather the storm. With 6 minutes left in the frame, Timmins would answer, lifting a shot from the slot over the shoulder of Hounds goalie Cash Rowswell to tie the game at 1-1. The Teams would then skate out the rest of the period to the buzzer tied at 1’s.The third period would not be kind to the Soo as missed opportunities, a couple posts and a couple good saves by The Timmins goalie would prove costly. With 5 mins left, Timmins would fire another shot from the hash marks into the net for a 2-1 lead. The Hounds would make an attempt for the equalizer but the North Stars would defend their lead to the buzzer and go home with the 2-1 Win.
Game 2 vs the Temiskaming Puckhounds would not start well for the Soo. The Jr Hounds would face a relentless skating Attack and find themselves on their heels early. Halfway through the frame, the Puckhounds would strike and take a 1-0 lead. The Hounds would try and fend off the forecheck but would surrender a second tally by Temiskaming minutes later and find themselves in a 2-0 hole heading to intermission.     After a break at intermission, The Soo would re-group and start taking the play back at the Puckhounds. Strong skating, physical and team play would reward the Hounds as Sam Caruso would fire home a puck in front to cut the lead to 2-1. Both teams would trade chances but the Soo’s strong play would continue. Penalties would mount up and the teams would fend off the power plays of each club. With a few mins left in the period, Carter Huckson would send a shot past the Temiskaming goalie to knot the game up at 2-2. Both teams would skate into the intermission in a deadlock.       3rd period action saw the clubs take more penalties during the physical action. Power plays would not produce and the teams would trade opportunities at both ends. After killing another penalty with 4 minutes to play, The Soo would strike as Carter Huckson would bat home a puck from the high hash marks on a broken play to give the Hounds its first lead with 40 seconds left. A furious attempt by Temiskaming would fall short as the Soo would hang on to the Final buzzer and secure the 3-2 Victory.      Game 3 vs Copper Cliff Reds would be a game that the Hounds would want back. From the puck drop, the Hounds came out skating hard and pressing. Having the Reds on their heels, the Soo would send multiple shots and chances towards the Copper Cliff netminder only to come up empty. Copper Cliff would open the scoring late in the period to take a 1-0 lead to intermission.      The second period would see both clubs take penalties and trade chances at each end. Copper Cliff would extend their lead 5 mins into the frame to make it a 2-0 lead. Shortly after, Caleb Walker would fire a shot up over the shoulder of the Reds goalie to cut the lead to 2-1. The period would be dominated from there by the Hounds but once again they would not be able to capitalize and end with the Reds up a goal despite being outshot 30-16 to that point.     To start the 3rd, the Reds would come out hard and take it to the Hounds. The Hounds would battle the attack and both teams would be back and forth throughout. Halfway through the frame, Copper Cliff would get a lucky bounce off of a shot from the face off circle that would drop in behind Hounds goalie Cash Rowswell to extend their lead to 3-1.  From there, the Soo would dig deep and pressure the Reds in their zone. With 3 mins left, the Hounds would strike with Preston Miller ripping a shot low on the Reds goalie to cut the lead to 3-2.With under a minute to play and the goalie pulled, a scramble in front of Copper Cliffs net would see Sam Caruso bat in a loose puck with 20 seconds to play to tie the game at 3’s. The game would finish at that score and the Hounds would find themselves tied in the standings with the Reds. After the tie-breaker formula was found to be even as well, the Soo would only be eliminated from further play upon having more penalty mins than Copper Cliff.
