The Quest for the Silver Stick Continues
The Phi Dental Care Soo Jr Greyhounds had a great weekend
going 3-0-1 before their heart breaking loss in overtime verses the Timmins North
Stars in the finals of the Sudbury Regional Silver Stick Tournament. Their team
play caught fire as the weekend progressed but not capitalizing on their
opportunities in the finals had the team coming home with the Silver Medal, and
ending their quest for the Silver Stick, so we thought.
Just a few days after returning home from the Sudbury Tournament, our coach received a phone call from the Silver Stick International coordinator inviting the Phi Dental Care Soo Jr Greyhounds to the Silver Stick International Tournament in Sarnia, Ontario in January, giving them new life to their quest. To our surprise, the coordinator not only gave us a spot in the tournament but after seeing our record and hearing about our team, they have put us in the AAA category even though there was room in the AA division. After strong consideration, our coach felt that this will give the boys a great opportunity to learn, be challenged and elevate their game to the next level. Now it is up to the boys to put in the work and focus 110% of the time that they are on the ice in our upcoming games and practices to be mentally and physically prepared to play at the next level.
