In 1974, it was recognized by Paul Villgren, an industrial technical sales representative selling mining supplies and mining equipment that there was a void in Northern Ontario for a company to specialize in the sale of wire rope, chain and all rigging supplies. In January 1975 Sling-Choker Manufacturing Limited was established in Sudbury and the first products to be manufactured were wire rope slings for the mining and construction industry and chokers for the forestry sector.
