CASS Covid Situation clarification for SMHA
Submitted By Mike Creedon on Mon 03 15, 21
As recently reported by Algoma District School Board there have been individuals associated with CASS (Central Algoma Secondary School) that have tested positive for COVID-19.  Sault Major Hockey Association (SMHA) does have players and friends of players attending CASS and has received requests for clarification regarding these situations.

The Board of Directors of SMHA would like to inform/remind our members of the following in the event of any positive cases in our broader community:

-       if a member/member family HAS received a letter from Algoma Public Health (APH) indicating that they are considered a high risk contact of a positive COVID-19 case or if they themselves have tested positive, they must follow all guidelines provided by APH before they can return to SMHA events.

-       if a member/member family has NOT received a letter from APH indicating that they are considered a high risk contact of a positive COVID-19 case, they are free to attend SMHA events, following protocols and assuming no symptoms

As APH continues their investigation and as COVID-19 remains a fluid situation, we will remain in contact with them and follow their direction.  Should anything change, we will advise our members accordingly.

We thank our members, APH and City of Sault Ste. Marie for their continued support to provide a safe environment for our players.

We would also like to provide our best wishes and thoughts to those in our communities that have been impacted by COVID-19.
