Atom Minor AA Greyhounds Champs in Kitchener
The Atom Minor AA Soo Jr. Greyhounds returned from a successful weekend in Kitchener, winning the highly regarded KMHA Oktoberfest Tournament.
The Jr. Hounds faced a very tough test out of the gate against the previously
unbeaten Scarborough Young Bruins and overcame a 3rd period deficit to
prevail 5-3.
The Jr. Hounds rolled through the remainder of the round robin,
beating the host Kitchener Jr. Rangers 8-0, the Barrie Colts 8-0, then West
Hill Golden Hawks 15-3 to earn the top seed going into Sunday.
They put forth a strong effort in the semi-final to win 4-1 over a scrappy Vaughan
Rangers team.
The Jr. Hounds saved their best game of the tourney for the
championship, as they dominated the Gloucester Rangers White with a 10-1
victory to complete a great weekend of hockey.
Coach Craig Kennedy was very pleased with how the boys improved every game over the weekend and the play that culminated in the championship game. The boys also made time on the weekend to get in some homework and competitive mini golf.
Congrats to the players and staff!
