HOUSE LEAGUE DIVISION IN BANTAM
Submitted By Angel Barbisan on Tuesday, June 18, 2019
SMHA will run a House league division for the 2019-2020 season, in Bantam.

Based on input received from coaches at the AGM, and inline with the growing trend around both the NOHA, and the OHF; SMHA will run a Bantam House league in the upcoming season with the vision of expanding house league to the Midget age group in coming years.  The advantage of House League is the removal of Body Checking, yet still allowing body contact.  Most associations across the province have gone this way, making it increasingly difficult for B/C divisions to find competitive tournaments.  This decision is expected to enhance the game making it more enjoyable for most players.

As registration numbers are finalized in August, SMHA will then determine if the numbers will support 3 divisions (Bantam A, Bantam B, & Bantam house league) or two bantam divisions (Bantam A, & Bantam house league).  As always if a players wants to skip a tryout and participate in only their desired league, they can.  Bantam A draft will start after Sept 3rd, with the other division(s) following.
