New Commitment Process
Attention Elite Players, Parents, and Coaches,

The OHF has launched a new process for Commitments for the 2025-2026 season.  Gone are the letters of commitment that we used to require signatures on.  Below is the new process:

NEW PROCESS:

When the coach is ready to offer a spot to a player (usually at the rink during tryouts), the process is as follows:
  1. Coach provides a spordle "Commitment Registration" link to the player's parents
  2. Parents click the "Commitment Registration" link, log into their spordle account, and complete the registration for their player
  3. Once the "Commitment Registration" is complete, the player's spot on the team is reserved, financial obligation for the season begins, players must stop attending any other tryouts, and if a player wishes to cancel their commitment they must get a release from the association.
PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Have your spordle account credentials with you at the rink
  • if possible have a device (cell phone?) with you at the rink that you can use to access spordle
  • if a spot is offered, immediately get the commitment registration link from the coach and complete the registration.  Until it is complete, the spot is not reserved and can be rescinded and offered to someone else at any time.
  • finally, email the invoice you receive from spordle to the coach, as confirmation that the commitment registration is complete.
  • parents are not to share the registration link
COACH RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • have the registration link ready to offer
  • if possible, provide a device at the rink that parents can use to access their spordle account
  • keep track of your commitments so you know how many spots remain
  • contact the Registrar if there are any problems with the commitment process
ADDITIONAL STEPS FOR US PLAYERS AND OTHERS OUTSIDE THE OHF:
  • US players and other players from outside the OHF require a release and transfer before they can complete a full commitment.
  • If a coach offers a spot to a player outside the OHF, they will get a "conditional commitment" from the player.  The coach will immediately notify the Registrar so that the process of getting a release and transfer can be initiated.
  • Once the transfer is approved, the commitment registration link can be shared by the coach, and the player from outside the OHF can register.
  • If there is an issue with getting the transfer approved, the coach may elect to offer the spot to another player, or the player may elect to sign with another team.

For information throughout tryouts, continue checking the dedicated team site and your email.
