Road trip to Hearst
Submitted by Matt W.
The Bantam Major AA Jr Hounds hit the road this weekend for the back end of the home and home league games with the Hearst/Kap Regional Express.

In the opening game, Hearst came out flying and set the tone early. A quick strike had the home team up 1-0. The Hounds would then settle in and trade chances throughout the frame with the Express until a late period 2 goal shift by Jaguar Vommaro would see the visitors up 2-1 at the period buzzer. In the second, both clubs would trade goals early and Hearst would keep pressing. After tying it up at 3’s, Hearst would get the go-ahead tally soon after and never look back. The Hounds would find themselves in a 4-3 deficit heading to the 3rd. In the 3rd, more strong play by the Express would see them strike 2 more times for 4 unanswered goals in the game and seal up the 6-3 Win.The second game would see the Hounds come out with a better effort although Hearst would strike for the first goal to take a 1-0 lead 5 minutes in. Not affected by the early strike, the Hounds would press and battle hard into the intermission down 1-0. The second would see the Hounds dominate the play and get rewarded 2 minutes in to tie it at 1’s. Shortly after, the Hounds would get the go ahead tally on a rebound banged home by Logan Dearing. Some rough play would see the boys get into penalty trouble in the frame and an effective PK was able to kill off a 5 on 3 along the way holding on to a 2-1 lead into the Intermission. In the third, more strong play from the Hounds would see them score 2 more in the period stretching the lead to 3 goals. Hearst would press hard but the team would answer defensively and a strong effort from Goalie Nate Maguire would seal up the 4-1 Victory. In the third game, Hearst would come out flying and take it to the Hounds early.  Hearst would get an early 1-0 lead before the Hounds found themselves in penalty trouble.  These penalties would be costly as Hearst would take a 2-0 lead towards the first intermission.  The second period would be more of the same early on with the Hounds in the penalty box once again and Hearst would strike once more on the power play to take a 3-0 lead.  From there the Hounds woke up and started playing physical and took the play to Hearst.  Hard work would pay off as the Hounds got themselves on the board midway through the second period. A high snap shot on the point by Callum Peterson put the Hounds one behind Hearst.  Shortly after, the Hounds would bang a loose puck in on the PP to tie the game at 3 heading into the intermission.  Hearst got an early goal on the PP in the third period.  Teams traded chances throughout the period until another shot from the point found itself at the back of the net to tie the game at 4’s. Hearst pressured the Hounds once again and would bang in a loose puck on a goal mouth scramble to take a 5-4 lead late in the game.  Hounds would try to answer back with the goalie pulled but Hearst would end up potting an empty netter to seal the 6-4 win. Hounds come home 3-3 VS Hearst to start the season
