MAVERICK FLETCHER CLOSES OUT 2022 WITH SHUTOUT OVER NORTH BAY TRAPPERS ON THE ROAD

The Soo U18 Greyhounds hit the highway to round out 2022 with a two game road trip in North Bay at the Memorial Gardens Sports Arena against the North Bay U18 Trappers on Friday, December 16th and Saturday, December 17th.

Next up for the Soo Greyhounds will be back on the road for three games with stops on New Liskeard, Kapuskasing, and Timmins over the January 6th to January 8th weekend. Game times will be 8:00 p.m. versus the New Liskeard Cubs (January 6), the Kapuskasing Flyers on January 7th at 7:00 p.m. and rounding out the weekend in Timmins at 10:30 a.m. against the Majors on Sunday, January 8th.

Greyhound coach Jamie Henderson told Sault sports that “we didn’t play near our best yesterday we had several break downs, but Nate Maguire was outstanding all game to keep us in it. Today we wanted to play with more structure and be harder in the d zone especially which for the most part we were able to do. Again, when called upon Maverick Fletcher was outstanding and we got a couple nice goals from Chitaroni and Cooke to win the game.”

It’s always nice to end off with a couple wins but beyond that we’re much more focused on how we can improve every opportunity we have both individually and as a team. We have a lot of players hoping to play hockey at the next level so it’s a fun group to work with they are highly motivated and it’s exciting to have some time off before getting back to work in a couple weeks,” added Henderson.
