It Takes a Village: The U16 AA Hounds and SOYA
It takes a village... The U16AA Jr Hounds players and Save Our Young Adults (SOYA) Founder Connie Raynor-Elliott both appreciate the support they've received from the community over the years. Rep sports players rely on the support of community sponsors to assist with the expenses associated with travel, equipment, teams fees, and more, and SOYA relies on the support of the community to help battle the addictions and opioid crisis that continue to plague our community. Today, these two organizations came together to help "give back".

The team, parents and coaching staff collected food and clothing this past month, and on Sunday, December 18th, the boys delivered a few vehicles full of food and clothing to Sault Ste Marie's SOYA, the non-profit organization located on Gore Street that provides "no judgment" support to people battling addictions. CTV News Northern Ontario was on hand to capture the moment and will share the segment on CTV News.

This time of year is always challenging as the cold weather and stress of the holidays can take a toll on people. The boys hope that these donations can alleviate some hardships faced by the people who rely on the support of SOYA to provide the basics needed for survival at this time of the year.

A huge thank you to the players, parents, coaches, and SOYA volunteers for their commitment to this community, and for CTV News for spreading the word. Thank you, too, to all who continue to donate and support such a wonderful organization.
