Hounds Turn Heads at London Junior Knights AA Green & White Tournament
Going into the London Junior Knights AA Green & White Tournament, some referred to the team as a bunch of farmers. Many didn't really know who the U13 AA Soo Jr. Greyhounds were. They do now.
The team started off the tournament with a win and a loss on day one, beating the Halton Hills Thunder 5-1 and then losing a hard fought battle to the London Junior Knights (White) 2-1.
Day two started with a commanding 5-0 win against the Toronto Royals. Tye Turco scored an impressive hat trick and Tanner Carriere was in net for the shut-out to secure the victory. The last game on day 2 had the team in a 'must-win' situation against the 2nd ranked team in Ontario; the North York Knights. The Hounds made their presence known with a huge 4-3 win, securing a spot in the semi-finals.
The semi-final game against the London Junior Knights (Green) was a nail-biter. Down 2-0 in the 3rd, the Hounds battled back to win 3-2, with the winning goal being chipped in by Jacob Wilson with less than 1 second left in the game. The win took the team to the championship game where they had to face the North York Knights for a second time. Despite a hard fought battle, the Hounds fell short in overtime, losing 2-1.
The U13 AA Soo Junior Greyhounds battled hard to show everyone that they can not only compete with, but beat the top AA teams in Ontario. Through their efforts, this team turned a lot of heads. They are excited to see what lies ahead of them the rest of the season. Next up...Halton Hills 'Best of the Best' AA Tournament December 3-5, 2021.
