Soo U15 Greyhound coach Dom Deluca told Saultsports that “I thought on Saturday, we had a great start and our speed and puck movement were noticeable. after getting up 4-1, we had some chances to extend the lead but not capitalizing allowed North Bay to hang around and they showed some fight and resilience to get the game back to 5-5. We missed two glorious chances with the score knotted up but couldn’t bury and eventually gave up the winner.”

“Today, we showed that we have the will and fighting spirit to rally from behind as well. The message was to play one shift at a time and continue to be resilient. We know we can score and create offence, and to be patient and opportunities would present themselves. The third period, once we tied it at 4 and being down 4-2 earlier, I saw a real momentum swing and we spent a lot of time in their zone and were able to generate scoring chances. We did not back off from the physical gene and were really engaged in the battle. We seemed to tire them out and we buried in the third! We talked before the game today, about getting some payback and sending a message to them,” added Deluca.

Coach Deluca also added “we know these teams will be gunning for us, so we need to be prepared and at our best every game. This week we will continue to work on some details and cleaning up our defensive zone. We will continue to reinforce our style of play, quick puck movement, creative plays, puck support and playing with speed through the neutral zone. Also, working on tidying up our neutral zone forecheck.”
