Semi Finalist at Vaughan Kings Classic
The U15 Soo Jr Greyhounds were definitely the underdogs going in to the Vaughan Kings Tournament but as always, this team proves that rankings do not matter when you are from the North.

The boys would have their hands full as they would face some of Ontario's top 20 teams, while the Hounds are currently sitting at #41. This is nothing new to this team as they have proven that they can play with the best of the best and in game 1 vs the 8th rank Don Mills Flyers, they proved that. Going into the last 30 seconds of the game, the hounds were all tied up with 1 goal a piece but with only 20 sec remaining, Don Mills found the back of the net and win game one 2-1. This gave the boys the motivation and set the tone for the rest of the weekend.

The team bounced back in game 2 and shut out Michigan #5 rank team, Biggby Coffee 2-0. This win instilled the confidence that the U15 Junior Hounds has the speed, skills and work ethic on the ice to be a top contender.

After their second win vs North York Rangers, 4-2, their final round robin game, verses Whitby Wildcats, who was sitting in first spot in the division, would determine their fate of advancing into Sunday's semi finals. A fast pace, back and forth game was exciting to watch and one of the best games the team played to date. With numerous penalties in the second period for the hounds, the PK shut them down with this aggressive play. When the final buzzer went, the Jr Hounds lead the score board with a 3-2 victory, claiming first place in their division and advancing into the semi finals vs the 12th rank Huron Perth Lakers.

This game was another exciting game as Huron Perth has a lot of speed and size that play a near perfect team game. The hounds kept it close the entire game but just couldn't get the time and space in the offensive zone to find the quality chances to put the puck in the net. The boys had few late scrambles in the third to tie it at 1, but a bad bounce of the back glass with a few minutes left in the game sealed the victory for Huron Perth, winning 2-0 and eventually winning the finals 4-0 over Whitby Wildcats.

The U15AAA Jr Hounds should be proud of their effort and play all weekend. The team came together and had found their identity. With the last 16 games remaining in the season before playoffs, the focus will come back to their league play starting this weekend verses North Bay.
