Last weekend marked the start of the 2020-2021 season with the Annual NOHLAAA Showcase in Sudbury. It was time to put all the hard work the boys put in over the summer and let it fly on the ice as the Jr Hounds played their first set of games of the season against North Bay Trappers, Nickel City Sons and the Sudbury Nickel Capitals
The U15 AAA Jr Greyhounds intensity and speed came in waves all weekend with their relentless puck pursuit and puck possession style. This is the first year the boys are playing with body contact and now they have a new arsenal to their style of play using the body at the right times. The Jr Hounds finished the weekend with a 3-0-0 record out scoring their opponents 17GF-5GA.
The Jr Hounds used the Showcase as a platform to get rid of their new season jitters and new player nerves, as 4 players have made the jump to AAA hockey, which they proved that they do belong at this level.
If the Showcase is any indication of how the 2020-2021 season will be, U15 AAA Jr Hound fans should be excited to watch the season unfold. The boys will be in action at home October 30-31 as they will be home to the Nickle City Sons. This should be an exciting weekend of hockey, so come out and support your U15 AAA Jr Greyhounds.
