Last weekend marked the start of the
2019-2020 season with the Annual NOHLAAA Showcase in Sudbury. It was time to
put all the hard work the boys put in over the summer and let it fly on the ice
as the Jr Hounds played their first set of games of the season against North Bay
Trappers, North Central Predators, Nickel City Sons and the Sudbury Jr Wolves.
The Pee Wee Major Jr Hounds intensity and speed came in waves all weekend with their relentless puck pursuit and puck possession style. Outshooting their opponents in every game, the Jr Hounds finished the weekend with a 3-1-0 record. Their only defeat was to the North Central Predators in a tight matchup by a score of 4-1. The game was a lot closer as 2 goals were score on an empty net.
Unlike their opponents who have already played in tournaments and games this season, The Jr Hounds used the Showcase as a platform to get rid of their new season jitters and new player nerves, as 2 players have made the jump to AAA hockey, which they proved that they do belong at this level.
If the Showcase is any indication of how the 2019-2020 season will be, ’07 AAA Jr Hound fans should be excited to watch the season unfold. The boys will be in action at home October 5th-6th as they have invited Fox Motors AAA from Grand Rapids, Michigan to a 3 game set as a rematch from last year when the ’07 Jr Hounds travelled to Grand Rapids. This should be an exciting weekend of hockey, so come out and support your '07 Jr Greyhounds.
