The '07 AAA Soo Jr Greyhound season is now in full swing and the team is riding a 10-0-1 record after the first month of the season.
After going 3-0-1 in the NOHLAAA Showcase, the Jr Hounds opened their regular season against the Timmins North Stars at home, winning all three games. The hounds showed their depth and resilience battling back each game and scoring when they needed too to take the series 3-0 and now sit on top of the standings after month one of the NOHL AAA Peewee Minor AAA division.
A mid week exhibition game verses the '06 Soo Lakers would show how far the boys have come since the team was first put together 2 years ago. They played against the Lakers in Atom Minor and were unable to beat them. Now 2 years later, the boys had the chance to show them how far they came and took the win 6-4, dominating most of the game. A rematch is set for Oct 15 at the Big Bear.
The boys just returned home from Grand Rapids Michigan where they had a 3 game sweep in the Fox Motors AAA showcase over Thanksgiving weekend. It took Fox Motors a few games to feel out the style of game our hounds play, but the endurance and speed was too much for Fox Motors to handle come the third period, in all three games. The hounds outscored Fox Motors 15-2 in the 3 games they played.
The Hounds will now get back on the ice this week to prepare for this weekend action back home verses the North Bay Trappers.
Come out, cheer on the Hounds and help paint the rink red!
