Soo Jr Tornado are "King's" of the Bantam 'AA' King's Cup - Lansing MI
After a poor showing at our hometown tournament (Steel City) that left a lot to be desired, your Soo Jr Tornado hit the road just 6 days later to compete in the King's Cup Tournament in Lansing MI.

Opening the Tournament on Saturday evening, the Soo Jr. Tornado came out with a flawless 3-0 win over the West Kent Hawks.  Sunday mornings action saw the Jr Tornado put up yet another strong defencive effort and a 2nd straight shutout for goaltender Daniel Rouillard. With the 2-0 win, your Jr. Tornado were in a good spot heading into game 3 of the round robin, a win would assure them a spot in the championship game.

Some tough puck luck, inconsistent play, and a flurry of missed chances late, left the Jr. Tornado with a 2-1 Loss against a very hungry and aggressive Wilmette Braves team.  Game 4 of the round robin now presented a win and in, lose and go home scenario for the Jr Tornado.  Despite not playing there best hockey, the Jr Tornado did just enough to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Grand Rapids Griffins to secure a rematch in the finals against the Wilmette Braves.

The finals saw a lot of back and forth action early, as your Soo Jr. Tornado scored late in the 1st to take a 1-0 lead into the break.  Adding another in the 2nd it was 2-0 heading into the 3rd. After Wilmette got on the board to make it 2-1, the game tightened up until your Soo Jr. Tornado netted two goals in the last 3:30 of play to open up a 4-1 lead and go on to capture there 2nd Tournament Championship on the season.

Congratulations to all the players on a successful weekend of hockey.  We did not play our best by any stretch, but elevated and executed when it mattered most. Next up is a flurry of league action before we hit the road again in 4 weeks to compete in the Motown Cup in Detroit MI.
