Ontario Concrete, Soo Jr. Greyhounds Capture Great Lakes Cup
The Ontario Concrete Soo Jr. Greyhounds took home the 2017 Great Lakes Cup Championship in exciting fashion with a 2 to 1 victory on Sunday in Stratford Ontario over the Huron Perth Lakers.

The hounds got off to a bit of a rocky start with a loss to 3 to 1 loss against the Huron Perth Lakers.  In the game the Hounds held a 1 to 0 lead until the third when the Lakers scored 3 unanswered goals for the win.

Friday's second game the Hounds took on the Guelph Gryphons. The game saw the Hounds prevailed against the Gryphons 5 to 3. The Hounds jumped out to a 3 to 0 lead only to see Guelph fight back to tie the game in the third. Shortly after Guelph tied the game the Hounds roared back to take the lead for good.

On Saturday the Hounds follow up with a 5 to 0 victory in their third game against the Brantford 99'ers.
That win gave the Hound a bye into Sunday's semi-final were they would face the same Guelph team that beat Brantford in the quarter finals that night.

In similar fashion on Sunday the Hound jumped out to a quick lead against the Gryphons leading 3 to 0 and Guelph putting pressure on to cut the lead to 1 but the Hounds withstood the late surge with some good penalty killing and sealed the deal with an empty net goal. The win set up a rematch against the Huron Perth Lakers

In the final game, after a scoreless first, the Hounds scored 2 in the second period and the score remained 2 to 0 until late in the third with their goalie pulled Huron Perth scored their first to make it a 2 to 1 game with 8 seconds left. The Hounds controlled the face-off and closed out with the win.

The Ontario Concrete Soo Jr. Greyhounds would like to thank the Great Lakes Organizing Committee and the Huron Perth Lakers for putting on a great tournament.  A very special thank-you goes out to the parents for their fantastic support over the weekend.

The Hounds return to NOHL action this weekend, when they host the visiting Sudbury Jr. Wolves with three games at the John Rhodes Arena.
