Tornado Ready For Playoff Action
Another tremendous season on ice nears completion as The Tornado Hockey team head into playoff action and await the Quarter Final Series to complete

Your Tornado Hockey team completed the 2016-2017 Regular Season with a record of 25-5 to earn a 4th consecutive league championship in the process.  Despite having graduated 7 players to Midget AA this past fall and losing 2 more as overage and to high school hockey, all available returning players quickly signed on and the drafted players filled the roster with new found energy and skill.

The season got off to a less than stellar start as the Tornado went 2-3 in the first 5 games. But since that point they reeled off 2 separate 6 game win streaks and another 11 game win streak within league play, lead by league points leader and Tornado team captain #9 Tyler Barban who finished the regular season with 42 goals and 42 assists in 27 games played to cement the Tornado's league championship.  The Tornado ended regular season action with 4 different 20+ goal scorers, depth and parody throughout the lineup which lead to 195 goals for and only 72 against in 30 games played.

In tournament play, your Tornado began the season with a 2-2 record in the Steel City, which wasn't good enough to advance to the medal round, but followed it up with a 4-1 record in Alpena at the Northern Lights Cup to capture Gold. In the New Year the Tornado competed in the Cabin Fever Tournament in Soo Michigan and lost an extremely competitive finals to take home silver.  A few weeks ago they hit the road again and made a run to the semi finals in the Cheboygan Challenge Cup.

Now the Tornado await the Quarter Finals to play out as they look to follow up a 4th straight league championship with a 3rd playoff title in those same 4 years.

On behalf of Mike Bryson, Mike Fowler, Jordan Vernelli and Charlene Lawrence, I would like to thank all the players for your heart, dedication and desire to develop and succeed you have shown this season.  We could not be more proud of your efforts and we are confident you will continue that strong play as the playoffs get under way.

The playoff season begins for your Tornado as soon as quarter final play is completed! Stay tuned to our team website and the Sault Major website for details.
